I hope it continues to work thru the summer. P0520 indicates that the oil pressure sensor is operating outside of its normal 'range'. I turned the ignition on and looked for any smoke, but Walla! The MIL cleared and the fan started roaring like a big cat. It's generic, which means that it has the same meaning for the Dodge Ram as it would any other vehicle. Then reconnected the battery and took a big sight. I bought a relay and a fuse and replaced them. Following all the ideas suggested here disconnected the battery. The only thing I did not check was the fan.

Checked the fuse, it was not blown but the casing was melted up to the PDC bottom. Checked the relay, it had low resistance. If the oil pressure drops less than 23.2 psi while the MDS will be disabled. For the MDS to remain enabled in the 4-cylinder mode the engine oil pressure cannot drop less than 23.2 psi. In a web search ran into the AF, all the comments gave me a lot of in depth clues to follow. For the Multi-Displacement System (MDS) to enable the 4-cylinder mode, the oil pressure must be approximately 25 psi. I had an instance with the same MIL code. Does anyone have a final resolution for this?

:)I have the same problem, fault code P1491. Shouldn't there some reason why a 25amp fuse will blow? Can a fuse blow without a problem? Sorry for all the questions, I just want to get this corrected before the hot summer months.

I replaced it and now it works but I'm not sure if I trust it. Since you have a new fan do you think your old fan motor may have caused the blown fuse? I'm having the same problem and my fuse was blown also. Or carry more fuse's :-)ĭid the problem ever come back? What other issues may cause the fuse to blow? I live in Southern Cal so any water freezing in the shroud is unlikely. to fix that problem, drill a few hole in the bottom the shroud allowing water to drain and not freeze. anyway, I also learned later that in the winter, water can get in the shroud and freeze the fan, locking it up and popping the fuse. 17 fix and a lot of trouble by listening to the stealer. sure enough, I checked the fuse and bingo. Oh also bought a relay as the dealer said I would need as well.replaced the relay and plugged in new fan. I declined, bout the fan myself, decided to try the fan prior to installing it, the fan didn't work. Here are ways to fix P0172 code fuel too rich: Cleaning the mass air flow. Dealer wanted around $300 for a new fan/shroud/labor.
